Salomon F24 Snowboard Boot

The F24 is Salomon's premier snowboard boot for expert riders. It's a ton of sick technology wrapped up in a slick package that's scarcely bigger than your skate shoe. The secret is Salomon's sleek, revolutionary Minus One liner that is fused to the boot and cuts down greatly on materials. The result is increased foot-to-board sensitivity which, of course, translates into optimal board to snow control. As a bonus to big-footed riders, with F Series boots, you can ride a board that's normally too narrow for you. The F24 provides the perfect ratio of forward flex and lateral support. New multi-facet leather panels provide added feel. Power lace provides superior foothold and makes tying up your boots a cinch, quite literally. The new F24 reflects Salomon's awesome sense of design.

nice but fits only narrow feet
These shoes are nice but they only fit narrow feet.

Great boot, durability/fit issues
This is a wonderful freeride boot for hard charging riders. A tad too stiff for mellow riding (i.e. if you aren't going fast enough to hear the wind howl and your coat flap around) or freestyle (it's fine in the pipe and on straight jumps - but I found it a tiny bit difficult to fully tweak grabs and poke the board out, also a little too responsive on rails, where being just a little off balance will result in you with your butt/back/neck/head hitting the rail). The fit is very narrow (which is great for my super skinny feet) but most people should size up a half size (even though in general you should be sizing down a half/full size).

Great freeride / all mountain boot
This is a great boot. I went from a pair of old Northwave (I forget model) and what a huge difference. These boots are super stiff and extremely responsive. I love the quick lace system. They fit a little tight, but after breaking in, they were wonderful. I haven't tried the formable linings yet, but I didn't need to. I don't go into the park, and the stiffness of these boots may not be good there, but they really do well jumping ridges and in the back bowls.

F24
The boot is really high tech. Awesome board feel, low profile, and really smooth design. Excellent freeride boot. Get these boots, and you'll be big pimping it on the hill.

Training Tips

For runners looking to get the maximum benefit from hill training, as you sprint to the top of the hill have your arms pumping faster and faster.  Once you get to the top, continue on increasing your speed as much as possible.

After each interval, take your pulse rate by counting the number of beats at your wrist or neck for 15 seconds.  Multiply that result by four to get your beats per minute.  Your next interval should start before your heart rate is less than 60% of your maximum.

The four components of good fitness include flexibility, muscular endurance, muscular strength, and cardiorespiratory endurance.  For optimum health, include at least two of these groups in three workouts per week.

Your fitness level will improve by overloading, working your body hard enough to stimulate the body, progression, increasing the frequency, intensity, and duration of exercise over time, and regularity, working out frequently, at least three times a week.
