Giro Fuse Helmet (Fall 2003)

The Giro Fuse goes hand-in-hand with big spins in deep pow, sliding rails, and completing first descents. The Fuse is super lightweight, offers bomber protection, and has the coolest ventilation system on the market. The Fuse is lit by a single inspiration: to mix industry-leading technology with a fresh, compact style. It’s the first helmet to combine on-the-fly adjustable ventilation with in-mold technology, creating a high-performance design that’s 28% lighter than old school helmets. In-mold technology fuses an impact-absorbing EPS liner with an outer microshell to create the lightest helmet possible with a true exo-skeleton, not just a skin. Sixteen vents are two-stage adjustable, and the removable earflaps lock directly into the helmet’s liner, blending nearly seamlessly with the shell. A wide-angle cut offers awesome peripheral vision, and Giro’s trademark deep Goggle Notch keeps eyewear securely in place.

Giro Fuse Helmet
Excellent fit and construction. The removable liner is a plus, adding to the easy of cleaning (if ever needed). The air venting system is easily accessed without removing the helmet and funtions flawlessly metering out the desired amount of ventilation with a simple lever movement. This is done quite easily even with gloves on.

First and last helmet
This was my first helmet, and I'm spoiled now. I don't expect I'll ever bother with anything else. The on-the-fly venting and the insano-light weight just rock. I've got my entire family outfitted with these at this point and everybody's in love with them. Don't screw around with other helmets, just get this one. You'll love it.

fuse is good
This is the answer to all your melon smacking problems. I'm absolutely blown away by the venting system. You can go from sweaty and nasty to cool as a cucumber in the middle of a descent on the fly without even slowing down. And the vents are huge. It's also super lightweight so you don't feel like you're even wearing a helmet after a little while. It's the greatest.

As expected
Light, cool, warming and comfortable.

Giro Fuse Helmet
Should have purchased a long time ago.Very comfortable and warm. Used the vents today. Much easier than the boeri removable;just slide them open. Only problem was, when I took it off my hair was frozen to my full cover face mask...not the helmets' fault!

Training Tips

Efficient running position allows you to run farther and faster.  Keep the heel raise to a minimum, relax your upper body and hands, keep your upper body poised and quiet.

If you want to make progess in your training, join a running group.  A commitment to meet on a regular basis with a group of like minded individuals will help you keep your focus.

An efficient long distance running stride will have you landing on your heal first and rolling to the front of your toes.

One of the most mentally toughening things you can do as a runner who trains daily is to add a morning run into your routine.  This means you are doing two runs a day.  The morning run is simply more of a mental challenge then anything else.
