Giro Bad Lieutenant TuneUps

The Giro Bad Lieutenant TuneUps let you convert your currently boring Lieutenant helmet into a beat pumping party helmet. Though we don't suggest wearing your Lieutenant to an actual party, unless you deem it necessary, the TuneUps kit will keep you pumped while you're on your skis or snowboard. The kit includes a set of headphone earpads, that replace your current boring ones, the cord that plugs into your MP3, iPod, mini disc or AM radio. The travel case holds up to 10 CD's or your audio player.

Giro Bad Lt. Tuneups, Rocking Out the Coolest Skid Lid
Similar to the Tune-ups made for the Nine series Helmet but with different attachment, which is a breeze, these headphone speakers are excellent. Sound quality is good but not great, but that is not really important, especially considering the intended use. Compared to last year's Nine model it's obvious that there are some slight but marked improvements. The size of the speakers is larger than what I had expected. I have the original edition of the Nine Tune-ups for my Nine.Mx and these are a little larger than those ones. Using an Mp3 player set to a mid range volume the newer tune-ups are noticeably louder, so you'll actually be able to hear it over the wind noise when you're dropping a double black or airing over that 60-foot booter. Also the mute button has been redone into a sleeker little assembly with a nice clothing clip and the spring in the button is stronger so you aren't as likely to mute the sound if you inadvertently bump it. Only complaint is that the audio port for the cord on the headphones doesn't always line up great but this only takes a few seconds and some patience to find it in the headphone material and then your ready to rock....literally.

great product
The tune ups are awesome if you want to listen to music on the mountain. I just plug in my IPOD and let it play. There's an inline mute button on the tune ups for when you want to stop the music then you can turn it back on when you need to. A lot more comfortable then wearing headphones.

Training Tips

For runners looking to get the maximum benefit from hill training, as you sprint to the top of the hill have your arms pumping faster and faster.  Once you get to the top, continue on increasing your speed as much as possible.

After each interval, take your pulse rate by counting the number of beats at your wrist or neck for 15 seconds.  Multiply that result by four to get your beats per minute.  Your next interval should start before your heart rate is less than 60% of your maximum.

The four components of good fitness include flexibility, muscular endurance, muscular strength, and cardiorespiratory endurance.  For optimum health, include at least two of these groups in three workouts per week.

Your fitness level will improve by overloading, working your body hard enough to stimulate the body, progression, increasing the frequency, intensity, and duration of exercise over time, and regularity, working out frequently, at least three times a week.
