Compare the Polar M-series heart rate monitors

The Polar M-series heart rate monitors are the mid-priced monitors from Polar. There are just two models in this group, the M61 and the M32.

There is not much difference between the two models.

Both monitors have the OwnCal feature. This feature unique to Polar takes into account who you are; including sex, how much you weigh and what your exercise heart rate is. The caluculation kicks in once your heart is beating at 100 beats per minutes (BPM). This allows you to set daily and weekly goals relative to how much calories you want to expend.

Each monitor has a watch with time displayed in 12 or 24 hour format, including an alarm. There is also a stopwatch which comes in handy when you are doing interval training or on a fartlek run on the trails. Both are water resistant to 30 meters, has a backlight to make reading your HR easy in less-than-ideal lighting situations.

Most of the significant differences between the M61 and M32 models comes from the unique Polar features. One of those is the "Last Own Index". Polar states that this is most meaningful when monitoring changes in your fitness over a long period of time - specifically after you take the five minute fitness test and predicts your maximum oxygen uptake, also known as VO2max.

Both of these heart rate monitors from Polar report real time data, average data over time. The M61 goes a little farther by reporting data relative to your fitness level.

Almost every heart rate monitor you can imagine!  Get instant access to a "excellent" selection of the best heart rate monitors available.
