The North Face WindStopper Denali Jacket - Mens
|
The North Face Denali WindStopper harnesses style of the Denali in Gore Windstopper softshell, so wind becomes a non-issue. More of a technical shell than a fleece, the Denali WindStopper features core vent pockets to let you control the jacket's airflow more precisely. The softshell material is stretchy, and great for use alone in warmer conditions or as a layer on blower pow days. The Denali WindStopper sports the signature abrasion resistant panels on the shoulder and chest, giving it a long life of keeping you windproof and comfortable.

Denali WindStopper Jacket I had hoped that this jacket would be warmer..I have been cold on several days this fall when temperatures were in the 50's with a good wind. I definitely expected more from North Face, especially with the high price tag...My seven year old Windstopper Fleece jacket from Pearl Izumi that I purchased for 0 is warmer than this jacket...
This jacket keep wind and water out This is a softshell jacket that keeps wind and water from penetrating the jacket. The other advantage of softshell is breathability but it will not keep you warm. A windstopper fleece like the North Face Pamir Jacket will keep you warm. Softshells are great for aerobic active in cold weather but if you need to keep warm at the bus stop get something else.
Lacking The GoreTex Windstopper works great but the jacket is very thin with a micro fleece lining and I don't think is any warmer than the regular 300 weight Denali.
Insufficient insulation Beware: although this is a windproof jacket, it is not a 300 weight fleece jacket as advertised. I was disappointed when I received it to find that it felt more like a 200 weight fleece jacket. The Mountain Hardwear WindStopper Tech Jacket is less expensive, yet is still windproof and has approximately the same amount of insulation as this jacket.

Training Tips
Have two pairs of running shoes, especially if you live in a wet climate. Consider replacing your shoes no later than 500 miles into the life of the shoes.
Proper hydration for a run includes drinking 30 - 45 minutes before you start and about a cup every 10 - 15 minutes while running.

One of the best ways to win a running race is to win it in your mind first. Visualize yourself running and winning that important race. The more often you do this, you will start to "feel" the race. Your heart will get pumping and your body will feel the effort required to get the job done.
Be serious about getting and staying in shape. Create a written plan that outlines the steps you are taking and the expected result by a certain date. Review your plan frequently and adjust as necessary. Do what it takes to get what you want.
