The North Face Synergy Down Jacket - Mens

The North Face Synergy Down Jacket is an unbeatable solution for alpine warmth. By combining waterproof/breathable HyVent with 600 fill down, the Synergy ends up with all the best characteristics of each. Down affords the ultimate in warmth and light weight, while HyVent keeps precipitation outside and lets perspiration out to join it. A fully functional ski jacket, the Synergy's got all the technical features you'd expect from a hardshell--like a detachable hood, core vents and a pow skirt. Rock out with a headphone access port. For cold mountain conditions, the Synergy is the best combination of elements in a single package.

Smart solid coat
I don't why anyone bothers with non-waterproof down jackets, especially in the Northeast where sleet and slush are the norm. This is a good all-around performer. Feels rugged and substantial, but looks nice enough to wear around in da big apple.

Great Jacket but a Small is more like XL!!!
Although this jacket has yet to be tested on the slopes, it has been to the Arctic Circle and back and the down layer kept me warm at temperatures up to -30 degrees. The quality is good and the features such as goggle pocket (with Chamois leather) and iPod pocket with stitched hole for headphones are very handy. The big downside for me was the sizing. I am fairly slim, but the men's small was huge, way too big for me even with extra layers on. This is going to be a major problem on the slopes with just thermals on underneath. Overall I am pleased with the jacket, but the sizing must have been based on Yeti!

Cool Looking Jacket
The design is very thoughtful. The stitches on the body create a nice pattern for the down. It doesn't give that bulky look you get with conventional down jackets. My only dislike is the cuff area. The VELCROŽ tape doesn't hold the folded cuffs well. The folded part often flies out. It would have been better if there were more colors offered.

Synergy keeps you warm
Great jacket. I love the combination of cozy warmth and its water-proof qualities. This jacket is a good purchase. It is very light and fits you nicely. It also has many conveniently placed pockets. Go for it. The service from this site was outrageously good.

Sweet Jacket
This jacket is very, very, very warm. Its true that it fits big but looks really good unzipped. The only thing I would complain about is that the zipper does not work that great everytime, and I am not really sure why. Other than that a very solid coat.

Training Tips

For runners looking to get the maximum benefit from hill training, as you sprint to the top of the hill have your arms pumping faster and faster.  Once you get to the top, continue on increasing your speed as much as possible.

After each interval, take your pulse rate by counting the number of beats at your wrist or neck for 15 seconds.  Multiply that result by four to get your beats per minute.  Your next interval should start before your heart rate is less than 60% of your maximum.

The four components of good fitness include flexibility, muscular endurance, muscular strength, and cardiorespiratory endurance.  For optimum health, include at least two of these groups in three workouts per week.

Your fitness level will improve by overloading, working your body hard enough to stimulate the body, progression, increasing the frequency, intensity, and duration of exercise over time, and regularity, working out frequently, at least three times a week.
