Sierra Designs Hurricane LT Parka - Men's
Sierra Designs' Hurricane LT Parka is a lightweight, waterproof, breathable jacket designed to keep your core dry in the rainiest and sweatiest of conditions. Two-layers of waterproof/breathable coating on a nylon fabric and fully taped seams will keep the rain from getting in. Breathable fabric allows sweaty moisture vapors to escape—so your core won't smother. Patented Extremity Vents™ extend from the wrist to upper arm create the effect of “rolling up your sleeves” without getting wet. This lightweight shell travels well. Ideal for high-aerobic activities such as backpacking and running, or for less sweaty activities such as rainy-day urban assaults.

SD's Hurricane Will Blow You Away I got by with a plastic poncho until I got caught in a 3-day rain storm on ONP's wilderness coast this year. The wind made my poncho useless. I needed a light-weight, compact rain-shell that didn't cost 0. I couldn't be happier with Sierra Designs' Hurricane LT. You can vent under the arms and through unzipped pockets to keep cool. The short hem keeps the jacket out-of-the-way while climbing rocks or on more difficult trails. The hood could use a stiff brim and the fabric could breathe a little better, but for the money, it's a great coat.
A great jacket at a great price The Sierra Designs Hurricane parka is a great jacket, made even better by its great price. It has similar waterproofness to more expensive jackets like Marmot or North Face, but at a fraction of the price. This jacket is very compressible and light to wear. Also, I thought the sizing of the Sierra Designs jacket was better than others I have tried. The size large was a great fit compared to Marmot (large too big, medium too small). I highly recommend this jacket for a waterproof, light solution.
Hurrican LT Parka - Mens Excellent rain gear. Light weight yet cuts wind chill and keeps you dry. It's a 'best buy" at that price!
Good performance rain jacket This jacket really keeps out the rain. I love the visor-like insert in the hood that keeps rain out of your face. There are very handy inside mesh pockets for water bottles or gently folded papers. The outside pockets have both hook and loop clasps and zippers to keep contents there dry too. If you don't zip those pockets, the hook and loop closure will likely keep your stuff from falling out. Also, the jacket is good for blocking out the wind. The only area for improvement is that the coated material can get wet with sweat. I think an inside mesh would be (a little) more comfortable.
Hurricane LT Parka If you want to stay dry and have a limited budget, this is the jacket for you. But if you'd like a jacket that you actually may wear somewhere other than the backwoods, you may want to upgrade to the Marmot Oracle or the North Face products. I tried the Hurricane and found it too "plasticky" and not breathable enough. Also the design is short. I like the feel of a jacket that covers my butt a little more. And the hood can't be tucked away. Like I said, I was hoping I'd like the LT Hurricane more because of the great price, but returned it (with absolutely no hassle) and bought a Marmot Oracle which has been great and much more versatile off the trail.

Training Tips
Proper hydration for a run includes drinking 30 - 45 minutes before you start and about a cup every 10 - 15 minutes while running.
One of the best ways to win a running race is to win it in your mind first. Visualize yourself running and winning that important race. The more often you do this, you will start to "feel" the race. Your heart will get pumping and your body will feel the effort required to get the job done.

Be serious about getting and staying in shape. Create a written plan that outlines the steps you are taking and the expected result by a certain date. Review your plan frequently and adjust as necessary. Do what it takes to get what you want.
Buy running gear made with performance fabrics - Supplex, Coolmax, Lycra, Goretex - that allow for full range of motion.
