Phantom Jacket
This jacket is so toasty warm yet weighs next to nothing. The jacket is also very compressable so it's perfect for backpacking. It's also nicely cut and the material is very soft so it's also a joy to wear for daily use too.

Must have
Field tested with only a single wicking base layer on Dec 05 at 10:00p.m. Conditions: Outside temp 25 degress 15-20 mph head wind for approximately 2 hours. Negatives: must have gortex windproof hat and gloves. No face protection. Positives: Extremely comfortable, ultra light. Two separate inside draw cords is a nice feature. Chest pocket great for storing ID, tissues for constant dripping nose, energy bars, etc. Excellent for everyday commute to work. Easy to drive in. Great for air-traveling. Can serve as an extra blanket for wife and kids as well. Attractive design and colors. Versatile down jacket you will want to use on a daily basis.

Sleep standing up
I look for reasons to wear this coat. I live in SF but go to Tahoe every weekend. I wear at 0 degrees and 50 degrees, either way I'm lovin' it. It feels like your favorite blanket, just much more stylish and portable. Oh yeah, it's light as phuck too.

Great piece of gear
I bought the Phantom jacket to replace my Chugach jacket that was stolen from the gym, and at this price I couldn't pass it up. It's incredibly light, warm, packs nicely, and has a great fit (although it could stand to be a little bit longer). The Chugach jacket was a little bit warmer, but the Phantom jacket isn't nearly as bulky, is quite a bit lighter, and packs into a bag that's about half the size of the Chugach's. I guess it depends on what you're looking for if you're trying to choose between the two, but I don't think you can go wrong with either.

Phantom Saves the Operation
This jacket is awesome! I bought it for a very good friend who needed a jacket to hike the length of the Appalachian Trail. He reports that he has discovered that his sleeping bag is way too light so he has been wearing his Mountain Hardware Phantom jacket inside his sleeping bag and it has made all the difference. "Marmot" at last report was safely into the Smokies. He really LOVES this awesome jacket. I've had one of their down parkas for years and though it is tattered and soiled, It's still my favorite winter coat. Kudos to Mountain Hardware!!!

Training Tips

One of the most mentally toughening things you can do as a runner who trains daily is to add a morning run into your routine.  This means you are doing two runs a day.  The morning run is simply more of a mental challenge then anything else.

Have two pairs of running shoes, especially if you live in a wet climate.  Consider replacing your shoes no later than 500 miles into the life of the shoes.

Proper hydration for a run includes drinking 30 - 45 minutes before you start and about a cup every 10 - 15 minutes while running.

One of the best ways to win a running race is to win it in your mind first.  Visualize yourself running and winning that important race.  The more often you do this, you will start to "feel" the race.  Your heart will get pumping and your body will feel the effort required to get the job done.
