These are a fine pair of shoes; they fit great, have superior traction, and manage to look good too. The only thing I'd ask for is full leather uppers - but the price makes me overlook this minor detail. Kudos to The North Face!

These shoes rule!
So cheap, yet so good...The sole is thick enough to walk around comfortably on lava rocks, but cushy enough to feel almost like a trail runner. I went a half-size larger than usual (as suggested) and the fit is perfect. Great support for hiking and they still look good for hanging around: I've received compliments on them from girls, and that's always a good thing!

Very comfortable shoes!
I am very pleased with these shoes. Good price for excellent comfort. I had bought hiking shoes before, but these are by far my favorite!

very comfortable!!
These shoes are soooooo comfortable, so far. I can't wait to break them in on a great trail. Nice style and you can't beat the price.

Decent day hikers
Pros: -Generous cushy padding provides good ankle comfort. -Excellent traction on wet or dry earth. -Good lacing system. -Attractive looks. Cons: -Thin, unsupportive leather. -No water resistance at all. -Mediocre traction on rock. -Made in China, like everything else that we sell-outs buy these days.

Training Tips

Did you know that to lose approximately one pound of fat, an average adult would have to walk 30 miles? You don't have to walk those 30 miles all at once.

If you consume 100 calories a day more than you need, you will gain about 10 pounds in a year.  A reasonable combination of diet and exercise can help control your weight.  The key is to balance your caloric intake with the amount of exercise.

You can increase your maximum oxygen consumption by approximately 15% when you work out three times a week for at least 30 minutes at 70% of your maximum heart rate.

Low weight, high rep circuit training combines the best of both worlds: aerobic and anaerobic training.  Keeping the rest time in between high repeats low excercises like bench press, leg presses, inclined sit-ups, and upright rows is the key to maximum benefits.
