Scarpa Reflex Rock Climbing Shoe
Quickly gaining a reputation as the screamin' deal of the century, the Scarpa Reflex is a high-performance rock climbing shoe that excels on all kinds of terrain. Loaded with performance features like Megabyte rubber soles, sticky rubber rands and a speed-lacing system, the Reflex is semi-stiff for edging support, but sensitive enough for steep sport routes. Equally at home on granite slabs or overhanging quartzite, the Reflex edges, smears and grabs with grace. Nicely enough, all of this comes at a price anyone can afford. The Reflex is built on a high-volume last for ultimate comfort. –Vendor

beginner falls in love As a brand new rock climber and ranger throwing herself to the granite of the Sierra Nevada, these shoes are comfortable and STICK to the rock. Highly recommended.
Uncomfortable, but Awesome These shoes took a while to break in--and even when I did break them in, they were still fairly uncomfortable. But, on the upside, they have performed very well. They edge wonderfully; they have a still sole which holds its shape in a crack; the heels hold really well on odd bouldering heel hooks, the rubber sticks well on wherever I paste them. Even after I blew out the toe, these were still my choice for routes at my skill limit. I am more than willing to suck it & deal with the pain for the performance. My first pair delaminated 2 months after wearing them--I sent them to the manuf. & they promptly sent me a new pair, which has been great.
Scarpa reflex rock shoe The Scarpa Reflex has performed well so far. I just got them broken in and they feel great. Takes a little getting used to for someone used to a more padded style shoe but all in all it has far surpassed my expectations as a lower costing climbing shoe. Want a good climb get a good shoe, this is one of them.
performance is good, but.... In terms of price and performance, they are a great pair of shoes. Being new at the sport, I'm still getting used to the idea of wearing shoes which are WAY too small. I would almost recommend getting a half size larger, especially for beginners. The one complaint I do have is the color....it's pink. It's a silly complaint, but I think the color should be described more accurately in the description. Perhaps that's why it was so cheap. Other than that, you can't beat quality for the price.

Training Tips
Anaeroic threshold is when lactic acid starts to build up in your body as your muscles are not getting the oxygen they require. This threshold is typically expressed as a percentage of your VO2 max - the amount of oxygen per kilogram of weight that a person can use in converting fuel to energy. Elite athletes threshold might be as high as 90% of VO2 max.
Efficient running position allows you to run farther and faster. Keep the heel raise to a minimum, relax your upper body and hands, keep your upper body poised and quiet.

If you want to make progess in your training, join a running group. A commitment to meet on a regular basis with a group of like minded individuals will help you keep your focus.
An efficient long distance running stride will have you landing on your heal first and rolling to the front of your toes.
