Salomon XA Comp Trail Running Shoe - Men's
The Salomon XA Comp is the shoe of choice for the runner who prefers fire roads and smoother dirt trails over extremely rocky terrain. Compared to the XA Pro, the XA Comp offers a slightly softer ride, designed to negotiate moderate off-road terrain, and to protect from light debris. It's less suited for extremely rugged, mountainous terrain. If you enjoy running on dirt tracks at the city park or on smooth trails in the neighboring hills, then the XA Comp is likely your shoe. The Contagrip2 Adventure Running Outsole has a very aggressive tread pattern and an optimal grip to wear ratio, providing plenty of traction with an excellent sole life. Salomon's asymmetrical one pull lacing system makes taking the XA Comp off and on as easy as an oversized, unlaced street shoe—while giving you a snug fit every time.

Soloman XA Comp My first pair of Salomon XA's (they laced up) were wonderful, and my BRAND NEW XA Pro 2 are fine. Unfortunately, I can't say the same of the XA Comp. They were far too "squishy" and "soft" to be reliable or sturdy on trails. Far too easy to twist an ankle. Felt more like basic tennis shoes.
Awesome shoes! First let me say that this is the place to buy. These guys are GREAT! Having said that, the Salomon XA Comps are first class. I'm a BIG Merrell buyer, but I've got to give it to Salomon for making a shoe that is in the same league. Very comfortable, and well made. True to size. I just wish more stores would carry the Salomons. My first Salomons, but definitely not my last. You can't go wrong with these shoes.
Salomon XA Comp Shoe These are a great casual running shoe. The soles are a little more cushiony than most Salomon lines. The grip/tred is a little less aggressive and rigid. Salomon makes a few other shoes that are better for trail running, these are a great shoe, but they are not a hardcore trail shoe.
Great all terrain trail runner Great all around shoe for trail running and adventure racing. Kevlar lacing system is the best on the market. Great traction and stability on any surface. I am a female, but ordered the mens shoe as gives just a bit more foot space in the shoe box for long expedition adventure races when your feet swell.
Salomon XA Comp Trail Shoe Great shoe. Very light weight, easy to get on and off thanks to the quick lace system. I have a wide foot and these shoes are just right. It's hard to believe I'm wearing them. I bought a pair of Salomons from a discount catalog and was disappointed in them. They had regular laces and were quite narrow. It's hard to wear them. This is my 3rd pair of Salomons and I'm sold on them. It's a shame that no one in my town sells them.

Training Tips
Proper hydration for a run includes drinking 30 - 45 minutes before you start and about a cup every 10 - 15 minutes while running.
One of the best ways to win a running race is to win it in your mind first. Visualize yourself running and winning that important race. The more often you do this, you will start to "feel" the race. Your heart will get pumping and your body will feel the effort required to get the job done.

Be serious about getting and staying in shape. Create a written plan that outlines the steps you are taking and the expected result by a certain date. Review your plan frequently and adjust as necessary. Do what it takes to get what you want.
Buy running gear made with performance fabrics - Supplex, Coolmax, Lycra, Goretex - that allow for full range of motion.
