Salomon Solaris Low Day Hiking Shoe - Men's

The Salomon Solaris Low hiking shoe is an instantly comfortable shoe you don't have to break in. This low-cut, light hiker handles moderate to rugged terrain with ease, keeping your foot happy on the trail or in the city with performance and style. The Solaris Low replaces the Exclaim but maintains all the great features that made the Exclaim Salomon's #1 selling shoe. Split suede and nubuck leather encase mesh vents on the sides of the shoe for excellent breathability. Material bridges the tongue to the upper preventing debris from getting in the Solaris Lows. Salomon's Mountain Contagrip sole offers traction for negotiating rugged, mountainous terrain.

Gotta have 'em
These shoes are phenomenal. Comfortable, stylish, and rugged. You can't go wrong!

nice shoes bad strings
To start out I love the shoes including fit and function. As usual with the last 3 pair of "hiking" boots that I have gotten the strings that come with the shoes are the hard slick round nylon type that as the description implies are almost impossible to keep tied. It is hard to enjoy a walk if you have to either retie your shoes every 100 yrds or tie them in knots to keep them tied. A choice of strings, even with a small fee, would be a great alternitive.

Good one
Liked it. Backcountry.com service was prompt. Will buy some more gear here...

all day walkers!
i bought these to replace my worn down exclaims, with the fear that they wouldnt match up. however, they are just as comfortable and even more grippy! these are excellent shoes for the causual walker without heavy loads, or the city traveller. with heavy backpacks, my heels get a bit tired, as there probably isnt enough support for the load. without, however, i can walk ALL day. ive worn them for 15 hours non stop and my feet felt perfect after that long day. i highly recommend!

Training Tips

After each interval, take your pulse rate by counting the number of beats at your wrist or neck for 15 seconds.  Multiply that result by four to get your beats per minute.  Your next interval should start before your heart rate is less than 60% of your maximum.

The four components of good fitness include flexibility, muscular endurance, muscular strength, and cardiorespiratory endurance.  For optimum health, include at least two of these groups in three workouts per week.

Your fitness level will improve by overloading, working your body hard enough to stimulate the body, progression, increasing the frequency, intensity, and duration of exercise over time, and regularity, working out frequently, at least three times a week.

As your fitness improves over time by following a carefully planned fitness program, your ability to exercise closer to your maximum heart rate will improve.
