Salomon Adventure Trek 7 GTX - Men's

The Salomon Adventure Trek 7 GTX is a high end, fully waterproof & breathable boot with a Gore-Tex liner designed for hiking and backpacking through rugged, wet terrain. The Adventure Trek 7 offers unbeatable foothold and protection with a rubber toe cap that deflects rocks and terrain. If you have finicky feet, the Adventure Trek 7 is a great choice as it fits a wide variety of feet well, and it's built on a rocker that gives excellent toe-heel cadence and a comfortable stride. High quality waterproof nubuck leather offers the best in comfort, durability, and weather protection; and the Gore-Tex liner, of course, doesn't let a drop of moisture through. Its Mountain Contagrip sole is constructed from durable, high wear, and abrasion-resistant rubber that provides excellent grip and durability on all types of mountainous terrain. A defined outsold edge bolsters confidence and stability on technical terrain. As icing on the cake, the Adventure Trek 7 comes with an OrthoLite comfort foam insole for the latest in comfort and breathable technology.

light hiker
The old Salomon GTX was a true light hiker. This one is a bit too stiff. Also, the top of the boot is sufficiently close to my ankle that it chafes. My advice to Salomon for next year's light hiker- higher and lighter.

Saloman Adventure Trek7 GTX -Mens
I first purchased Salomon backpack hikers for my husband back a few years ago, and the first pair lasted for over 3 years of heavy use; extremely heavy use. They worked great, kept his feet dry in the hottest of weather and during the wet season as well. The Gore-Tex lining is the best idea. The miles he put on them of steady walking for over 9 hours daily we can only imagine. These were the sturdiest and most comfortable hikers he had ever worn, I've have bought Salomon's since and something isn't the same, the glues, the materials or something, as now they only last for a bit over 1/2 the season. On one pair the sole started coming off, and the heel wears down sooner. Still the most comfortable with their terrific cut, and the wicking is terrific, and works wonderfully well, amazing really. Perhaps they have changed something where they're manufactured, different suppliers or just what I don't know, but wish they would go back to how they were, the best boot around.

Training Tips

Have two pairs of running shoes, especially if you live in a wet climate.  Consider replacing your shoes no later than 500 miles into the life of the shoes.

Proper hydration for a run includes drinking 30 - 45 minutes before you start and about a cup every 10 - 15 minutes while running.

One of the best ways to win a running race is to win it in your mind first.  Visualize yourself running and winning that important race.  The more often you do this, you will start to "feel" the race.  Your heart will get pumping and your body will feel the effort required to get the job done.

Be serious about getting and staying in shape.  Create a written plan that outlines the steps you are taking and the expected result by a certain date.  Review your plan frequently and adjust as necessary.  Do what it takes to get what you want.
