Lotus El Capilene II

The Lotus El Capilene II is an insulating base layer designed specifically for paddlers. Lotus used three weights of insulation in the El Capilene II's construction: Heavier insulation prevents core heat loss on the chest and upper back. Lighter fabric covers the areas that require greater mobility for paddling such as in the sleeves and waist. Finally, armpits get the lightest thermal fabric which mostly benefits those around you ;). The El Capilene II is quick to wick and dry so you're not left soggy and cold during high output activity. Other clever design features include a low-cut collar that doesn't interfere with your shell's neck closure or gasket, and large armholes that enhance freedom of movement. Bear in mind that the El Capilene II is designed for an against-the-skin fit, so buy a size up for layering underneath.

The garment worked perfect as it was advertised. I used it paddling in the boundary waters and It did what the company said it would do. Not everything was perfect though. There was a two inch tear in the lefty arm seam that I did not discover until I was outdoors. It is a fitted piece of clothing so I do not know if there is enough material to have it repaired.

Training Tips
