The North Face Class V Hat

The North Face Class V Hat is read for the deluge. Whether you're kayak touring, fishing, or lounging at the beach, the Class V fits the bill—a floatable bill, that is. It won't save you, but you'll be able to spot your cap floating away if you get dumped. Constructed from durable lightweight nylon with a DWR (Durable Water Resistant) finish, the Class V has won't soak through like cotton and features a floatable bill if knocked off into the water. An SPF20 rating keeps scalps from scalding in the summer sun; combined with its lightweight and quick-drying capabilities, the Class V is perfect for hiking and camping as well. Adjustable nylon webbing and an elastic strap ensures one size fits all.

fits the bill
This is a nice waterproof hat that has already stood up to a lot of abuse. It does not soak up the sweat so I can wear it running and it still looks good afterwards. I got this hat as a thowin on a pair of shoes, but now I really love it and it is well worth buying.

Great Hat
We just returned from Costa Rica and these hats were great during our hikes! They are comfortable and waterproof. We were in a group of hikers through the Monteverde rain forest and ours were the only dry hat left!

Nothing says summer like this hat
The North Face Class V Hat is not just for boaters, although the floating bill is sure nice for summer swims and river crossings. I've owned this hat for a number of years and its lightweight quick drying fabric is perfect for hiking, backpacking and climbing trips that I've used it on. The bill stays pretty much in the same shape because of the nylon stretched out over it so tight which bummed me out for a minute or so since I wanted to flex the bill a bit more, but all in all this is a great summer cap to have around.

Training Tips

After each interval, take your pulse rate by counting the number of beats at your wrist or neck for 15 seconds.  Multiply that result by four to get your beats per minute.  Your next interval should start before your heart rate is less than 60% of your maximum.

The four components of good fitness include flexibility, muscular endurance, muscular strength, and cardiorespiratory endurance.  For optimum health, include at least two of these groups in three workouts per week.

Your fitness level will improve by overloading, working your body hard enough to stimulate the body, progression, increasing the frequency, intensity, and duration of exercise over time, and regularity, working out frequently, at least three times a week.

As your fitness improves over time by following a carefully planned fitness program, your ability to exercise closer to your maximum heart rate will improve.
