Use The Stairs To Get A Great Workout

If you are short on time and high on motivation to get in shape, you can use the stairs to get yourself in shape.

I'm talking to you, especially if you work at a job all day that has you sitting in front of a computer most of the time. It's really simple. Get up every so often and find the nearest flight of stairs. If you are in a multi-story building even better. Simply use the elevator to take you down and walk up the steps. Rinse and repeat.

Now this assumes you know your limits. Meet with your doctor to be certain that your heart and the rest of your body is up for this.

Want to make the stair workout a little more interesting? Take two steps at a time. Skip a step and use it to stretch out your calf muscle. After each step pause and let your leg stretch.

Ready for even more creativity? Walk sideways up one flight of stairs. On the next flight, walk sideways with the other foot leading. You'll feel some muscles you weren't even aware you had.

If you live in a place that has an outdoor stadium, then you are in for a treat - at least a "treat" in a workout perspective. Climb every flight of stairs.

Since you are outside, add a backpack. Put some weight in that pack and start hiking.
