Black Diamond Mercury Mitten - Men's

The Black Diamond Mercury Mitt envelops your hands in Primaloft insulation and heavyweight fleece to keep frostbite at bay in temps down to -20° Fahrenheit. This makes the Mercury Mitt perfect for winter climbing, expeditions above 17,000 feet, or scraping ice from your windshield in the dead of February. You might think all this warmth sacrifices dexterity, but Black Diamond's design team knows you need to actually use your fingers, not just keep them warm. The Mercury Mitt follows the natural curve of your hand to maximize your grip on ski poles, ice axes, and windshield scrapers.

worth every penny
Expensive but worth every penny. I always have cold hands. But with glove liners and these mittens my hands were fine. Amazing considering we were skiing in Vermont where the weather was never ABOVE 20 degrees-yet my hands were fine. My only recommendation would be to buy the next smaller size than you would normally. I bought mediums and they were much larger than I expected.

Mercury Mitts rock
Excellent gloves, very warm and appear well built. They run large, which is a bonus if you use glove liners. I've been using them on the ultimate glove test: to push a snow blower in 10 F and below. My fingers stay toasty. Palms are insulated with fleece, which is better than down for handling metal.

good glove, but don't pull to hard
I had this glove and loved it but I pulled on the draw cord and it snapped off. Otherwise they were great when I went to return them for another pair they no longer had my size. I then got TNF Deludge glove not as good as the Mercury but what are ya gonna do that's life, good luck!

Best price, best value, best quality
I am a lift operator, my job requires me to play in the snow all day long. Cowhide leather palm grips better then any other glove out there. I have used Burton Oven Mitts for the last few seasons, but after a week in the Mercury's I can't take them off. The gloves kept my hands warm in -20 in New England with no extra Capilene liners for a week of skiing. The only problem I have encountered was the sizing. I usually wear an XL glove, was cautious and got Medium Mercury's, looking back I should have bought Small.

Incredibly warm but way too big
I bought an XS based on the information in a previous review about the mitts running large. These mitts run about 1 1/2-2 sizes large. That being said, they are incredibly warm and seem to be well made, and if they made them small enough for me I would definitely want them.

Training Tips

One of the most mentally toughening things you can do as a runner who trains daily is to add a morning run into your routine.  This means you are doing two runs a day.  The morning run is simply more of a mental challenge then anything else.

Have two pairs of running shoes, especially if you live in a wet climate.  Consider replacing your shoes no later than 500 miles into the life of the shoes.

Proper hydration for a run includes drinking 30 - 45 minutes before you start and about a cup every 10 - 15 minutes while running.

One of the best ways to win a running race is to win it in your mind first.  Visualize yourself running and winning that important race.  The more often you do this, you will start to "feel" the race.  Your heart will get pumping and your body will feel the effort required to get the job done.
