Metolius Crash Pad

Metolius Crash Pads protect climbers when starting tricky sport climbs or falling off of boulders. When bouldering it's nice to know that you have three inches of protective foam below you and even better to know that the engineers at Metolius designed the best possible landing zone. Using a combination of open and closed-cell foam they created a crash pad which absorbs as much energy as possible. The open cell foam is a great shock absorber, but by itself it takes a very thick piece to keep from bottoming out. By adding a layer of firmer, closed-cell foam on top, the force is spread out, producing a firm shock absorber and comfortable landing. COMES IN ASSORTED COLORS. WE'LL SURPRISE YA.

Metolius Crash Pad ROCKS!
Even though I've only just broken her in, I can say that this pad rocks! I know at least 3 other climbers that have the same pad- and all of us love it....I've seen other pads that dont even compare and that blow out in no time. No one i know has ever seen a metolius pad blow out. Backcounrty.com delivered exactly what they said they would! Thanks!

Great functionality and durability
Great pad for the price...really saves your butt! Used to be the best pad in the world in my mind, but due to a run-in with the folds I'd suggest being really careful with the foot placement so that you don't roll your ankle. I know you don't understand how it can happen...trust me. Great strap system though, this thing feels just like an oversized backpack when it's on you! Spend some cash...save your butt!

Toughest pad on the market.
Unlike a lot of others, this one is extremely durable. Metolius uses the best foam of anyone and over time it shows. I have never seen a packed out Metolius. It is comforting to know that the pad below offers the same protection it did the day you bought it.

Metolus Crash Pad!!!
This is a great pad! Great strapping system, carries like a backpack. It is a little small but very sturdy—beware of the crack in the middle where it folds when landing. It is definitely worth the price!

Metolius crash pad.. just enough!
I was looking for a bouldering crash pad that would be just enough to protect me from ankle injuries, yet be small and light enough to not be a burden on a 40 minute approach. The medium size pad does a great job of balancing between weight and size. How about a crash pad that opens up to a 2'x6' length, and folds to 2'x3'? I'd buy it and use it for a sleeping pad as well!

Training Tips

As your fitness improves over time by following a carefully planned fitness program, your ability to exercise closer to your maximum heart rate will improve.

Did you know that to lose approximately one pound of fat, an average adult would have to walk 30 miles? You don't have to walk those 30 miles all at once.

If you consume 100 calories a day more than you need, you will gain about 10 pounds in a year.  A reasonable combination of diet and exercise can help control your weight.  The key is to balance your caloric intake with the amount of exercise.

You can increase your maximum oxygen consumption by approximately 15% when you work out three times a week for at least 30 minutes at 70% of your maximum heart rate.
