CamelBak SnoBound

The CamelBak SnoBound is a bare bones backcountry ski or board pack. Just going out for the morning and won't be hauling a whole lot of gear? The CamelBak SnoBound is streamlined just for such occasions. Travel fast-and-light while still having room for clothes, food, shovel, probes, and of course, 100 ounces of water. An easy to use retention system allows you to strap on skis or a board. Skis carry either diagonally or A-Frame, while boards carry vertically. And a zipper on the back panel allows you to easily access the hydration reservoir even when the pack is loaded up tight. A big bonus, indeed.

Great Bag
Perfect for snowboarding, really convenient for lugging your board around hands free. The tube did freeze up a bit- although I was snowboarding in some pretty cold weather, windchill -20 deg, but overall a great bag. I also used it at college to carry around my laptop and small notebooks for class. Overall a great purchase and makes bringing along water, snacks, and extra layers easy!

Decent pack for b/c day trips
Nicely designed winter hydration daypack. Good size for in and out of bounds. Lots of options for carrying skis and snowboard. Nice snug fit. Despite the fact that the drinking tube has a neoprene sleeve, rubber shield over the mouth, and fits inside the right-hand strap, I've had problems with it freezing. Would any pack do better? I've had only limited experience with winter hydration packs in cold weather. My gripe: On the strap through which the drinking tube passes, the zipper won't stay closed. Apart from slightly decreasing the insulation of the tube, the exposed tube tends to flap around and catch on things. Its a minor annoyance, though.

Training Tips

Proper hydration for a run includes drinking 30 - 45 minutes before you start and about a cup every 10 - 15 minutes while running.

One of the best ways to win a running race is to win it in your mind first.  Visualize yourself running and winning that important race.  The more often you do this, you will start to "feel" the race.  Your heart will get pumping and your body will feel the effort required to get the job done.

Be serious about getting and staying in shape.  Create a written plan that outlines the steps you are taking and the expected result by a certain date.  Review your plan frequently and adjust as necessary.  Do what it takes to get what you want.

Buy running gear made with performance fabrics - Supplex, Coolmax, Lycra, Goretex - that allow for full range of motion.
