CamelBak FlashFlo

The FlashFlo hydration system is perfect for cyclists or runners who prefer a waist-mounted system. Stable, lightweight, and comfortable, the FlashFlo provides water capacity equal to a double water bottle fanny pack, and there's enough storage for your CD or MP3 player and energy bar or gel. An external zip pocket holds keys and whatnot. For running, walking, hiking on and off trail, this system rules.

why are you running with water bottles?
I am so sick of water bottles bouncing around on my back when I am out on a run. My issue was solved when I got the Flash Flo. It fits snug around the waist and eliminates the annoying bounce. It also has room for a light trail jacket and a power bar. This is the hydration system I recommend for the trail runners out there.

Cool water pack!
I've used this hydration pack for several long runs. It took me a little while to get used to running with it. The weight of the water is hard to 'wear'. It's designed really well with wide straps so the nothing digs into you. There are some great straps that easily tighten the pack around my waist. I need to tighten them as I go through the water to keep it comfortable, but it sure beats carrying water bottles. The extra space for storing keys and my MP3 player are a nice bonus. I think the pack works even better for biking where I'm not bouncing around as much. I definitely recommend it.

Training Tips

You can increase your maximum oxygen consumption by approximately 15% when you work out three times a week for at least 30 minutes at 70% of your maximum heart rate.

Low weight, high rep circuit training combines the best of both worlds: aerobic and anaerobic training.  Keeping the rest time in between high repeats low excercises like bench press, leg presses, inclined sit-ups, and upright rows is the key to maximum benefits.

As a long distance runner, a gradual increase in distance each week will allow you to build a solid areobic base.  Distance increase should be no more than 10% of the previous week's distance.

When buying a new pair of running shoes, bring your old ones with you.  You will get a better fit if you know if you supinate or pronate.
