Garmont Dynamite G-Fit Alpine Touring Boot
The Garmont Dynamite G-Fit Alpine Touring boot is the best value in the Garmont line for a Dynafit compatible boot. It offers the right balance of skiing support and touring comfort for all around ski mountaineering. The Dynamite comes with the G-Fit Mid custom thermo-formable liner which is a step down in height and stiffness from the G-Fit High liner (not pictured), and has a flex panel for touring comfort. The G-Fit liner features a tongue-design that maintains the shell's forward lean, is more responsive to forward pressure, and provides better ankle flex than overlap designs. The Garmont Dynamite G-Fit Alpine Touring boot is for people who spend more time in the skin line than the lift line. We carry this boot in smaller sizes for women's feet; check options pull down menu for availability. NOTE: It is not necessary to custom mold these to your feet, but it'srecommended for the best possible fit. See your local boot fitter. **SIZING INFORMATION: For a performance fit, choose a full size below your normal shoe size; and for a roomier fit, choose a half size below your shoe size. If you want to be even more precise, do this: Draw an outline of your foot while standing on paper, and measure the outline lengthwise (from heel to big toe) in centimeters. Choose the boot size that is ½ cm greater than your outlined foot for a performance fit, and 1 cm greater for a roomier fit. For example, a foot measuring 27 cm would require a boot size 27.5 (US 9) for a performance fit, and size 28 (US 9.5) for a roomier fit.

sweet boots The Garmont Dynamite is a great boot for me. This is my fist foray into AT after years of tele skiing, so the ability to walk was key, and the Dynamite delivers. It's also quite stiff in ski mode, and the lever that switches between the two is much easier to flick than similar levers on tele boots. The thermo liner is super warm, and in a side by side indoor comparison I wore a standard mountaineering boot on one foot and the Dynamite Thermo on the other, in about 20 minutes the Dynamite was toasty and the mountaineering boot was no warmer than if I'd been in a tennis shoe on that foot.
Supple yet stiff I'm an intermediate skier that prefers the backcountry versus resort skiing. This boot has been a pleasure to ski in with a Dynafit binding. It is very flexible for touring and is surprisingly stiff for the downhill runs. The liner is warm with a thin sock. Only one minor complaint- one boot squeeks with each step, but I'm sure a little silicone grease will do the trick. Overall, great boot.
upgrade The Dynamite is a definite upgrade from my old two buckle Scarpa Tambos. The heal pocket is secure. The ski-walk switch that unlocks the ankle cuff is a big improvement. No more wrestling with that flip up tab. With the spoiler removed, the boots are comfortable to ski and tour in (I like less forward lean). Dynafit compatibility – the weight savings are great over my Silveretta 500s. I’d move the middle buckle more toward the ankle and off the arch of my foot. I liked the overlap tongue on the Scarpa thermo liners, because I could lean forward into the cuff on the down hill. The dynamite has a softer forward flex which is nice for touring.
Good All-Around boot This boot is a good all-around backcountry boot. It has enough support to easily power fairly large skis, but retains enough flexibility to tour and walk comfortably. I've even snowboarded with them in plate bindings and they felt fine. It isn't the burliest boot or the lightest, but if you can only have one boot and you tour for your turns at least some of the time, it is a good choice. As always, though, fit is king with boots so make sure they fit as well or better than the competition.

Training Tips
Proper hydration for a run includes drinking 30 - 45 minutes before you start and about a cup every 10 - 15 minutes while running.
One of the best ways to win a running race is to win it in your mind first. Visualize yourself running and winning that important race. The more often you do this, you will start to "feel" the race. Your heart will get pumping and your body will feel the effort required to get the job done.

Be serious about getting and staying in shape. Create a written plan that outlines the steps you are taking and the expected result by a certain date. Review your plan frequently and adjust as necessary. Do what it takes to get what you want.
Buy running gear made with performance fabrics - Supplex, Coolmax, Lycra, Goretex - that allow for full range of motion.
