Use 'em or lose 'em Using skis strapped to your body is dangerous. They trap you if you're in an avalanche, and beat you up if you fall. Get rid of your straps and install brakes. I got a pair of these, and feel much better now that they're on my skis. They work fine, no problems. I found good info on installing these at http://wildsnow.com/tips/diamir_brake_install.html
broke but got warranteed Got the fat ones but broke on me the first day, I got them warranteed no problems, the new ones seem more durable.
Work Well, But Heavy These brakes work well, but are rather heavy. For sub-alpine tours, as well as above-treeline tours out East (where the terrain is so steep that brakes aren’t going to stop a ski anyway), I just go brake-less and strap-less to save weight. The savings are noticeable. But for Western trips I swap the brakes back in. I haven’t tried wildsnow.com’s tips for removing the non-brake pad, and instead use some thin screwdrivers to pry it up.
Diamir ski brakes The brakes, though I haven't used them yet (no snow yet), should be great. The installation was not a problem.

Training Tips
Efficient running position allows you to run farther and faster. Keep the heel raise to a minimum, relax your upper body and hands, keep your upper body poised and quiet.
If you want to make progess in your training, join a running group. A commitment to meet on a regular basis with a group of like minded individuals will help you keep your focus.

An efficient long distance running stride will have you landing on your heal first and rolling to the front of your toes.
One of the most mentally toughening things you can do as a runner who trains daily is to add a morning run into your routine. This means you are doing two runs a day. The morning run is simply more of a mental challenge then anything else.
