Volant Spatula Ski
Volant Spatula inventor and insane athlete Shane McConkey's visionary skis are unlike any other in existence. McConkey applied the simple physics found in the shapes and cambers of surfboards and water skis to create these revolutionary powder rides. With a length of 186cm and dimensions of 120/125/115mm, the Spats are wider underfoot than they are at the tip and tail—the opposite of skis with sidecut. Center mounting puts you directly over the fattest point of the ski, and reverse camber planes the base on powder like a surfboard on a glassy wave. On windbuff and deep powder, the Spatulas are super easy to turn—just stand centered and pivot your feet. Shane's a billygoater, and the Spatulas let you ski smoothly in tight places. While they take some getting used to on groomed runs, it's still possible to turn and control speed. If and when you ever return to traditional fat skis, the Spatulas centered position will keep you on top of your game. Volant made just a few of the Spatulas, and they're no longer being produced. Once they're gone, they're gone.

Most Funnest Ski Ever The Spatulas are fun skis. They seem really weird at first because they're the opposite of "normal" skis. For instance, I ate it hard my third turn down Silver Fox because I was too far forward, trying to push the ski through the turn. I got snow down my pants and it was really cold. Then I stood up and relaxed and let the skis work for me. That's when the party started. They're super stable in soft and deep snow cuz they're so wide underfoot. Not to be cocky, but I friggin' rip harder than anyone when I'm on my Spatulas. When I'm not on my Spats, I kind of suck. The Spatulas are the first ski that's ever felt like it's an extension of my body. All you gotta do is stand on both feet and look where you're going.
Spats only on the pow If you ski backcountry, Vermont doesn't count, you need these skis. The spats make floating through powder comparable to heaven. You effortlessly drop cornices to speed over the top of knee deep fresh with the ease of pouring milk on your morning cereal. If you take spats on the groom or, shudder, ice you will rue the day. These skis are almost uncontrolable due to the reverse camber. Alaska ski-a-holic

Training Tips
Anaeroic threshold is when lactic acid starts to build up in your body as your muscles are not getting the oxygen they require. This threshold is typically expressed as a percentage of your VO2 max - the amount of oxygen per kilogram of weight that a person can use in converting fuel to energy. Elite athletes threshold might be as high as 90% of VO2 max.
Efficient running position allows you to run farther and faster. Keep the heel raise to a minimum, relax your upper body and hands, keep your upper body poised and quiet.

If you want to make progess in your training, join a running group. A commitment to meet on a regular basis with a group of like minded individuals will help you keep your focus.
An efficient long distance running stride will have you landing on your heal first and rolling to the front of your toes.
