Petzl Ascension

The Petzl Ascension is standard equipment for big wall climbing. Neither mud nor ice nor freezing rain will make the Ascension loosen its hold. Designed to fit single ropes between 8 and 13mm in diameter, the Ascension features a lightweight aluminum body and easy-grip handle and rope-clamp. The Petzl Ascension's ergonomic handle keeps the ascender aligned with the direction of the pull for maximum efficiency, and a self-cleaning slot removes mud, grime, and ice from the rope as you move upward. Left and right-hand versions are color coded for easy differentiating.

Great product, somewhat incompatible
The Petzl Free Spirit carabiners do not fit into the Petzl Ascender safety lock hole. Of course this was a mix of alpine equipment and aid gear but it was surprising considering they are from the same manufacturer. Not a big deal. Quality product otherwise and timely service from BackcountryStore.com. It arrived just in time for a weekend outing!

Ascenders
Products arrived in great condition and well packed. I bought both the left and the right at the same time. The only thing that would have made me happier was if there was a discount offered for buying both...but overall, a good transaction. I will likely shop here again.

Petzl Ascensions
Quality items, good packaging, nice serialization, and the best price I could find. Items were shipped timely and I'm ecstatic with the entire experience at BackcountryStore.com.

Training Tips

Your fitness level will improve by overloading, working your body hard enough to stimulate the body, progression, increasing the frequency, intensity, and duration of exercise over time, and regularity, working out frequently, at least three times a week.

As your fitness improves over time by following a carefully planned fitness program, your ability to exercise closer to your maximum heart rate will improve.

Did you know that to lose approximately one pound of fat, an average adult would have to walk 30 miles? You don't have to walk those 30 miles all at once.

If you consume 100 calories a day more than you need, you will gain about 10 pounds in a year.  A reasonable combination of diet and exercise can help control your weight.  The key is to balance your caloric intake with the amount of exercise.
